Follicular Hair Transplant involves transferring hair from the back and side of the head (the "donor area") to those areas undergoing hair loss or thinning. The hair from the donor area is genetically programmed to be permanent.
FUT is commonly known as the strip harvesting method. A strip of skin from the back of the head (donor area) is removed with the help of a scalpel under local anaesthesia. The gap at the back of the head is then sutured together. The strip is then divided into grafts containing one, two or three follicles. The grafts, post their segregation are then implanted to the thinning or the balding area (recipient site).
Anybody above age of 23 years or not having hair loss beyond Grade III is considered for hair transplant surgery.
